Purists love the Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch. Like the originals from 1969, these pieces replicate today those watches worn within the moon years ago. Needless to say there're cool, but when it comes to I lust for much more modern timepieces. The newest for 2011 Speedmaster Co-Axial Chronograph is easily the most modern Speedmaster to-date (i first covered it here). Around 44.25mm wide, it provides a slick design, improved legibility, as well as a fantastic movement produced in-house by Omega. Despite everything that, it still retains the charm and timeless design of the original.

For review, We've one of several high-end models offered in Omega's special "orange gold " (ref. 311.63.44.51.01.001). Similar to 18k rose gold, this gold alloy is a bit more orange in tone. I like the heat of the usb ports. To get more images in the steel Omega Speedmaster Co-Axial Chronograph watches you can check out this previous post here. I actually discuss the movement in more detail than I really do in this particular review - check out that article in the event you haven't already previously. In addition, this watch is also referred to as Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Co-Axial Chronograph. I don't know if they should include the "Moonwatch" part when discussing it, and you will see that section of the name a good deal when searching for the watch.

Something very unique happened within the course my reviewing this Omega watch. Omega decided that they can wished to change the dial on the gold version in the Speedmaster Co-Axial Chronograph watch. This caused a very long delay inside my relieve the review, because I want to to exhibit the retail version. The initial dial choice for your 18k orange gold version would be a ceramic dial. Omega then - and probably properly so - went with a black enamel dial. I do believe that the black enamel dial is standard on the platinum cased version in the Speedmaster Co-Axial Chronograph and Omega decided it turned out a good solution for that gold version besides. The bezel is usually different around the enamelled dial version. After having both watches to analyze, I made the choice to offer images of both mixed into this post. The ceramic dial version isn't every destined to be commercially ready in terms of I know - but it's good for you to find out what "might have been". Again, be aware that just the black enamel dial is on retail versions on this Speedmaster Co-Axial Chronograph watch.

Usually, the gold and steel Speedmaster Co-Axial Chronograph watches are identical, but well then , i'll just identify the differences. Obviously the gold model can be purchased in the 18k orange gold case. It also used the caliber 9301 versus 9300 movement. These are identical save for the gold rotor and tide over the escapement. Last, the gold version of the watch is really a different dial. The common Speedmaster Co-Axial Chronograph (don't forget, Omega Speedmaster watches have delicately different names, so be sure you know which ones you might be talking about) features a matte black dial, while gold version has a baked black enamel dial. The other prototype version includes a ceramic dial. Look closely right over the place that the hour and minute hands connect in the center and you'll visit a light engraving in the dial saying "Zr02." That stands for Zirconium oxide - that's the principle material most industrial ceramics are constructed with if I understand correctly.

The enamel dial around the gold model is lovely which consists of shine and deep black color. As you move the standard model is much more utilitarian and in keeping with the Speedmaster theme, Omega needed to overdress the gold and platinum versions somewhat. Besides those minor differences, analysis this model should connect with from any of the new Omega Speedmaster Co-Axial Chronograph watches.
